Gallagher named one of World’s Most Ethical Companies

The parent company of Crombie Lockwood, Gallagher, has been named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies in 2019 by the Ethisphere Institute. The honour has been awarded to Gallagher for eight years in a row, and the company is the only insurance broker to have received Ethisphere Institute recognition.

The Ethisphere Institute is a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices that fuel corporate character, marketplace trust and business success.

In 2019, 128 honourees were recognised spanning 21 countries and 50 industries.  Gallagher joined other global entities such as Canon, Hasbro, Intel and Volvo in receiving the honour.

The Ethisphere Institute’s Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Erblich, said the 13th class of honourees profoundly illustrates how companies continue to be the driving force for improving communities, building capable and empowered workforces, and fostering corporate cultures focused on ethics and a strong sense of purpose.

“Today, employees, investors and stakeholders are putting their greatest trust in companies to take leadership on societal issues,” he said.

“Companies that take the long view with a purpose-based strategy are proven to not only outperform but last. I congratulate everyone at Gallagher for earning this recognition.”

Gallagher has operations in 35 countries and offers client-service capabilities in more than 150 countries around the world through a network of correspondent brokers and consultants.

“Gallagher has been committed to maintaining the highest standards of moral and ethical behaviour since our founding in 1927,” said Gallagher Chairman, President and CEO, J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr.

“We are truly honoured to again be recognised as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies in 2019. This distinction is a testament to our global team, united by the single purpose of helping people, businesses and communities navigate risk so they can face their future with confidence.”

About Ethisphere

The Ethisphere Institute has expertise in measuring and defining core ethics standards using data-driven insights that help companies enhance corporate character and measure and improve culture. In addition to its World’s Most Ethical Companies recognition programme, the Ethisphere Institute also provides a community of industry experts with the Business Ethics Leadership Alliance (BELA).

The World’s Most Ethical Companies Award assessment is based on the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient (EQ) framework, which offers a quantitative way to assess a company’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardised manner.

Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35 percent), culture of ethics (20 percent), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20 percent), governance (15 percent) and leadership and reputation (10 percent).
